Hamilton Barnes was founded in 2014 to provide a consultative and customer focused recruitment solution, where customer service is paramount to the experience. We aim to build long-term relationships with our customers and do this by communicating clearly, directly and honestly and pride ourselves in providing an exceptional service to our customers.
We focus on recruitment within a specific niche in IT, namely around Network Engineering and Security. We specialise in Cisco technology, which powers and drives the internet and we source the best Cisco and Juniper Networking Engineers for our customers. George and Nick, the founders of Hamilton Barnes, have over 30 years’ global recruitment experience between them so you will receive plenty of sound advice as you get to grips with the role.

Annual City Trips
We love working as a team and love to travel, so every year we have a team target to visit a European City for a long weekend. This is based on revenue generated across the team for a specific period, usually 6 months. Recent venues have included Hoxton Hotel in Amsterdam, W Hotel in Barcelona and H10 in Marbella.
Monthly lunch clubs
Another team target is based on our team monthly revenue. If we hit out monthly team target we go to a salubrious London restaurant for a long lunch, all expenses paid! Recent venues have included Hakkasan, The Shard, Maze Grill, The Ivy and The Oxo Tower to name a few!
These are our super targets which are a team “stretch” target. This is to visit some of the best hotels in the best locations in the world such as Atlantis in Dubai or The Wynn in Las Vegas! It’s a stretch target so needs 110% commitment to hit, but it’s well worth it when we do as we push the boat out just as we do on all our incentives!
We set everyone individual goals and targets to hit based on revenue generation. This ties into your career progression and tiered commission scheme (which is unlimited from day one) and is structured so you can accelerate your earnings. Solid performers earn £40k in their first year with individual prizes on top of this!

We employ entry level staff and provide intensive training and support to enable success as quickly as possible. With success comes uncapped earning potential and unlimited career progression. You do not need to have a recruitment background, but If you’re a graduate with sales experience, or have experience in a customer facing role, then this could be for you. Don’t worry about the technical aspect of the job, you will be trained in understanding the technology our clients work with and the skills they look for in potential employees.
The role of a recruitment consultant here at Hamilton Barnes will require you to work closely with Clients and to source Candidates using a variety of recruitment techniques. Our Recruitment consultants are Brand Champions who strive to have our customers see Hamilton Barnes as their ‘Recruitment Partner of Choice’, consulting with them throughout the entire recruitment process. We strive to work with our candidates and clients long term, so we look for people who can build relationships, create trust and deliver great service
By working in such niche markets, with guiding and training, you will get to fully understand the technologies our clients work with and will be able to talk at ease with candidates fully understanding their skill set. You will gain a real in depth understanding of what specific clients need and what candidates would be a good fit.
Being a recruitment consultant is not a 9 to 5 job. It can be long hours and you will come up against obstacles that will challenge you. However, if you work hard and put the effort in you will reap the rewards and not only will you be impacting people’s lives and changing their lives for the better, you will also see the change it has on your lifestyle too.
What kind of career progression can you expect? It completely depends on what it is that drives and motivates you. It may be that you are happy resourcing the candidates to fill the roles that we have on offer. Talking to them and finding out their skills, experience, aspirations and long-term career goals. Building relationships with them to help them build their careers.
The consultant’s role will see you being involved in the whole of the recruitment process, dealing with the clients, understanding their job requirements and finding the right candidate. From Trainee level to Senior positions, it maybe that you are just not interested in the management path, and just love the very essence of the job. By moving through the various levels of consultant, from Trainee through to Senior, you will see your overall earnings continue to rise, giving you an excellent lifestyle.
If management is your vision and goal, then progressing through the consultant path into a Team Leadership role and management, acting as a mentor for your team, driving and leading them will be the right path for you.
